QUINCY, MASS. – It was a special kind of night this past Saturday (5/9) as former Falcon great Tom Englehardt '09 was inducted into the Yawkey Baseball League Hall of Fame inside Common Market Restaurants in Quincy.
Englehardt is recognized as one of the most feared left-handed hitters and premier third-basemen in the league's history. Throughout his decorated career with the Malden Bulldogs and Revere Rockies, he consistently anchored the middle of the lineup earning Silver Slugger honors in 2011 and 2014. His 2014 season was of historic significant as he posted a massive .507 batting average to go along with seven home runs and 30 runs batted in.
His career YBL stats are unfathomable. He played 154 games over seven seasons (six with Malden, one with Revere) while collecting 178 hits and finishing with a .392 batting average (454 AB). Englehardt belted 16 home runs and plated 119 RBI in the regular season. In the post-season, he led his teams to four finals appearances while amassing a .380 average on 63 hits, 4 home runs and 41 RBI over 56 games.
A native of Haverhill, Massachusetts, Englehardt is one of the most decorated student-athletes in Fisher Baseball history. In his four seasons wearing the pinstripes, he was named the Sunrise Conference Player of the Year (3x), Sunrise Conference Rookie of the Year, Sunrise Conference Champion (4x), NAIA Region X Champion (3x), and the first student-athlete named as a NAIA All-American (2x honorable mention, 2nd Team selection). Englehardt finished with a career batting average of .451 with 223 hits – both still program records. He was enshrined into the Fisher College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011.
Joining him at the YBL banquet were his former teammates with both the Malden Bulldogs and Fisher College, all of which are Fisher graduates and Fisher Athletics Hall of Fame members. Englehardt is also the third former Falcon to be inducted into the YBL HOF joining former assistant coach Dennis Bistany and Evan Tardugno.
