Men’s Basketball Soars Past Mitchell College 83-62

Boston, MA - Fisher College moves to 10-3 on the season after defeating Mitchell College in a non-conference matchup. Mitchell drops to 1-6 on the season after falling to the Falcons by a score of 83-62.

The Falcons took charge of the game when OJ Moore (Houston, TX) hit a three-point shot, putting the Falcons up 6-2. Fisher then went on a six-point run to lead the Mariners by seven points, 20-13. Mitchell made a strong run by bringing them within five points of the Falcons on a layup by Devonte Mosley.  With 8:10 left in the first half, Jameel Yousif (Chicago, IL) hit a three-pointer to ensure a Falcon 10-point lead, 31-21.

Mitchell scored three points to bring the score to 33-26. The Falcons then scored eight points before the Mariners hit another two. Fisher then took possession of the ball and held on until time ran out. Heading into the half, the Falcons lead the Mariners 43-28.   

Tyler Shular (Norwalk, CT) took the reins for the Falcons as he lead the first half with 10 points and three rebounds.  Other key players in the first half for the Falcons were Moore, Chris Green (Middle Island, NY), and Geodice Ortiz (Denver, CO). Moore scored seven points and grabbed two rebounds. Green and Ortiz both racked six points while Green had one rebound and Ortiz had four.

Alan Morgan led the Mariners in the first half with eight points. Parris Hill, Keith Lanham, and Mosley were other key scorers for Mitchell in the first half. Hill, Lanham, and Mosley scored six points apiece for the Mariners.

The Falcons remained dominant in the second half, outscoring the Mariners 40-34. Fisher opened the second half with a three-point shot by Chris Green (Middle Island, NY) to give the Falcons a 46-28 lead. Ortiz further ensured the Falcons' lead when he hit a layup to give the the team a 50-30 lead. 

Jonas Rusom (Hasselby, Sweden) came off the bench for the Falcons and hit two shots from behind the arc to increase the Falcon lead to 80-57. Brayvon Young retaliated and hit a three-pointer for the Mariners to bring the score to 80-60.

Alex Pires then hit a two pointer to finalize Mitchell's score at 62. Victor Hedman (Stockholm, Sweden) hit the final three pointer for Fisher, finalizing their score at 83. The Falcons defeated Mitchell 83-62.

Ortiz shined for the Falcons as he finished the game with 14 points and nine rebounds. Other key scorers for the Falcons were Shular and Moore. Shular racked 13 points and seven rebounds while Moore managed 11 points and three rebounds.

Hill and Wyatt Springer both navigated the path for the Mariners, scoring 11 points in the game. Hill also grabbed three rebounds on the night.

Morgan helped the Mariners with 10 points and three assists, but it was not enough for the Mariners to defeat the Falcons.

Fisher has a few days off before closing out the semester at home on Saturday, December 20. The Falcons will host the University of Maine-Fort Kent in Fecteau-Leary Gymnasium in Lynn, MA at 3:00 pm.
