Mariners Clip Falcons

CASTINE, Maine -- Maine Maritime cruised to a pair of five inning wins over Fisher College Tuesday. The Mariners took the first game 21-2 and the second 25-1. Maine Maritime improved to 4-8 while the Falcons fell to 0-15.

Autumn Jones and Erica Taylor paced the Mariners offense with a combined nine RBI in both games. Jones was 5 for 8 with 6 RBI and Taylor went 4 of 6 with 3 RBI.

Taylor struck out 10, and surrendered just one earned run, to pick up her first this season in the first game. Abby Yeo improved 4-3 by striking out 10, with 0 earned runs, in the nightcap.

Maine Maritime put 14 on the board in the second inning of game one. Cindy Schultz doubled in two runs, Jones brought in two in with a double, Andi Flannery singled in a runner and Taylor stroked a single to plate two.

Hayley Rae was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and Kelsie Hilton brought in three runs with one hit.

The Falcons got on the board with a solo homer from Kaliah Goulet in the fourth and a Jayla Vega single in the fifth.

The Mariners tacked on 13 runs is the first inning of the second game. Sabrina Keach, who was 2 for 2, singled home a run, Rae and Jones both doubled to score three runs and Hilton and Menges both brought runs in with singles.

Maine Maritime added five in the second, two in the third and five in the fourth.

The Lady Falcons return to action Saturday April 6th when the host the University of Maine-Presque Isle at 7PM.
