Holtsville, N.Y. – The softball team fell to Briarcliffe College Saturday afternoon in a non-conference matchup in New York. Fisher dropped to 0-17 on the season while Briarcliffe improved to 4-2 on the season.
After losing two games the day before, Fisher tried to retaliate with two more games on Saturday afternoon. Jayla Vega (Hoboken, N.J) and Morgan Selmi (Rohernt Park, Calif.) had back-to-back one-out singles in the first, but Briarcliffe shut the offense down quickly. Briarcliffe took advantage in the first inning, scoring four runs on five hits and one error committed by the Falcons to put them up 4-0.
Briarcliffe then added another run in the third to go up 5-0, but the Falcons' defense halted them from scoring any more runs in that inning. The Falcons couldn't come together offensively to score a run and Briarcliffe closed out the game with three runs in the fourth; finalizing the game in five innings at 8-0.
Zimmerman got the loss on the mound earning one strikeout in the contest. Four Falcons went 1-2 in the game with four singles.
Game 2

In the second inning, Fisher picked up one hit by Madison Carroll (Methuen, Mass.), but was unable to produce runs.
Fisher got into a bit of a jam when Briarcliffe hit a lead-off single. An error by the Fisher right fielder put runners into scoring position for Briarcliffe. A single brought in one run to put Briarcliffe up 2-0 in the third inning Briarcliffe then had bases loaded with one out, but Fisher kept them from scoring when Vega fielded a ground ball and got the runner out at home. Briarcliffe scored three more run following a single and an error by the Falcons, which brought the score to 5-0 after three complete innings.
For the next three innings, Briarcliffe dominated the Fisher bats and held them to one hit. Vega shined for the next two innings on the mound and held Briarcliffe scoreless until the sixth inning. Briarcliffe hit four singles in the sixth inning to score three runs to end the game with an 8-0 win.
