Lady Saints softball split a pair of games against Fisher College on April 13 in their doubleheader home opener. They have moved to 13-9 overall on the season and are 7-1 in YSCC match-ups.
In the first game, College of St. Joseph took an early 3-1 lead, with all runs coming in the second inning. Unfortunately for the Lady Saints, those were the only runs they would end up scoring for the entirety of the game. In the top of the 7th inning, with a one run lead, CSJ allowed the Fisher Falcons to have their best inning of the day. They scored two runs and took a 4-3 lead.
The Lady Saints were unable to muster up anything in the bottom of the seventh and therefore lost the game.
Game two was a different story. CSJ came out ready to play in the second game, led by the dominant pitching ofJenna Crowley, who got the 7-3 win. She pitched three shutout innings before finally giving up a run in the top of the 4th and she had a total of five strikeouts.
The bats also showed up. The Lady Saints had eight hits to Fisher's six and they were mostly timely hits with runners on base. Alana Todd went three for three on the day and Sierra Jaeger had a nice solo home run deep over the fence in center field. It was a well-rounded game, with six different CSJ players getting hits.
