Fisher Falls to NEC in Non-Conference Bout

Henniker, N.H.- The softball team picked up two wins against non-conference opponent Fisher College Wednesday afternoon. The Pilgrims won both games in just five innings with a final score of 11-0 in game one and 12-2 in the second.  

The Pilgrims improved to 15-15 on the season, while the Falcons fall to 3-25 on the season.  

GAME ONE: 

The Pilgrims scattered 12 hits on the game, five of which came in the third inning alone.  Leading the way for the Pilgrims was freshman Christine McNeil, who had the only extra base hit on the game finishing 1-for-2 with a double, while picking up two runs batted in and scoring two runs.  Senior Colleen Holt and junior Brianna Castellano each went 2-for-2 on the day with four runs scored between them.  First-year Gabriella Marcheschi was impressive on the mound pitching a one hitter and striking out five.  She improves to 6-5 on the season.  

Fisher's lone hit came off the bat of junior Camila De Sousa.  Picking up the loss for Fisher was junior Mikayla Zimmerman.

GAME TWO

The Pilgrims came out hot in game two, scoring four runs in the first, second and third innings.  Leading the way was freshman Joslyn Gallagher, who was perfect from the plate going 3-for-3, including a double and a triple, while driving in five runs.  Fellow freshman Jamie Ray, hit her fourth home run of the season, finishing 2-for-2 at the plate.  

Winning pitcher Debra Mazzeo had a solid day in the circle, giving up only three hits, while striking out five batters.  Mazzeo improves to 9-9 on the season.  

Fisher's Camila De Sousa went 2-for-2 at the plate while Kristina Brown picked up the other hit in the game.  Maria Rivera was credited the loss.
